Referees: Referees will be compensated per GBSL agreement with the FIFA referee unit as follows:
The home team coach pays the referee before the game, even if no game is played. If no referee shows up, pay the volunteer referee the game fee. The home team coach should report the missing referee to the Age Group Commissioner when he/she reports the score of the game. The referee’s decisions are final. The coach is responsible for his/her own behavior and the behavior of the parents and players. Take the time to review the game card with the opposing coach and the referee prior to the start of EVERY GAME. Once the game starts, it is too late.Weather & Game Conditions: The referee may suspend a game due to weather and/or unsafe playing conditions. The presence of an electrical storm close to the game site requires the suspension of the game. Rescheduling must be done through the Age Group Commissioners. If the weather is cold or inclement and both coaches agree, sweatpants and sweatshirts (worn under the uniform shorts and jersey) are allowed; otherwise, only the game uniform should be visible.
Switching Ends of Field: Teams will switch ends of the field (change goals) and the game will be restarted with a place kick by the team that did not kickoff in the previous period. (See Table 1.) Substitutions: Substitutions during play are allowed only in the 13-15 & 16-19 age groups. These substitutions can be made, with the consent of the referee, as follows:
Equipment: Shin guards are mandatory. Eyeglasses may be worn by any player. Players may not wear any jewelry. All goalkeepers must wear protective headgear. The headgear must be safely fastened on the head by chinstrap or other means. Game Times: The 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 age groups double up games. The early game must be completed by 7:10 PM to allow the later game to start on time. In order to help save time, the coaches from the earlier game leave their nets and corner flags set up, and take nets and flags from the coaches playing the later game. All other age groups start their games at 6:30 PM. Playing Time: All players must play at least half of the time they are present at the field. For 7-8 through 11-12, players present at the start of the game must play three quarters before any player plays four quarters. The 13-15 and 16-19 age group play with free substitution; coaches should make every effort to equal the playing time. With all age groups, the only exception is for a player who is ruled ineligible or has physical limitations. Roster: Each coach will have a complete league roster of the team for each game, and will tell the opposing team’s coach about any player(s) being disciplined and for how many periods. Inform the other coach about any boy who has physical limitations and cannot be expected to play at least half a game. Let the referee know about any boy who has a physical limitation (e.g. deafness), or who must wear non-standard clothes or jewelry for religious reasons.Spectator Seating: Opposing teams and spectators must sit on opposite sides of the field where possible. The home team will have the choice of sides. Modified Rules For 7-8 Age Group Only: The 7-8 Age Group will follow all FIFA rules with the following exceptions:
